It has to be a day of mixed emotions for one young National Hockey League forward.

A report from TSN insider Bob McKenzie has revealed that forward Derek Grant has been claimed off waivers by the Nashville Predators after he was placed on waivers Tuesday by his now former team the Buffalo Sabres.

Grant was given the biggest opportunity of his NHL career this season when he appeared for 35 games for the Sabres, and that likely has earned the franchise a measure of gratitude from the young man, however he is headed to a team that is expected to be far more competitive than the Sabres this season so this may be a blessing in disguise for Grant.

Grant, a center, has just 3 points on the season, all of the assists.
