BREAKING : Former Leafs' prospect inks deal in KHL.

Drafting players in the NHL is a very tough art to master. You never know if your top prospect scouted thoroughly during its minor leagues development will turn out as good as you'd like to. Sometimes a relatively unknown player will develop in a superstar and surprise everyone. Thing is, we can make educated guesses but it's meant to be imprecise at times.

It's exactly what happened with Leafs' former 2004 5th round pick Dmitri Vorobyov. He actually never played a single game in the NHL even if he could have cracked the lineup in Toronto, whether with the big team or the Marlies.

Today, we learned he resigned a further deal with a KHL team and cements his stay in Russia.

He couldn't reasonably crack the Leafs' lineup these days but it's still interesting to follow former draftees in their career away from the NHL!
