Breaking: Habs' young forward takes a Zdeno Chara slapshot to the head

We have just witnessed a very scary moment at the Bell Center, as the Montreal Canadiens are facing he Boston Bruins. Habs' young forward, Phillip Danault, took a slapshot from Zdeno Chara directly to the head, just 1:37 before the end of the period.

Danault is up to his knees... looked like the shot might've caught him on the ear. Now he's back down again. This is scary. Stretcher out.

As Sportsnet's Eric Engels reported, the shot that hit Danault was going 123 km/h:

Guys on HNIC said the shot that hit Danault was going 123km/h. Still don't know where it hit him, but one can only hope it caught his helmets. On a related note, thank goodness for helmets.

Players from both teams were sent to the locker room even before the period was finished. Danault was taken off the ice on a stretcher.

Chara went to apologize to Danault and see if he was okay. According to TSN's John Lu, he wouldn't leave the ice until he knew his opponent was safe.
