BREAKING: Injury Sets Player Back

A point against the Montreal Canadiens on Saturday night is the not the only thing that the Detroit Red Wings lost this past weekend.

Veteran defenseman Brendan Smith injured what many presume to be his right knee after colliding with Phillip Danault. He would leave the game and did not return, and general manager Ken Holland confirmed moments ago that he will be sidelined for at least four weeks.

Rookie forward Tyler Bertuzzi also injured his lower-body last Saturday night, as his leg buckled under him after taking a hit by Alexei Emelin. He was seen leaving the Joe Louis Arena on crutches and with a boot on his left foot.

There is no word on just how long Bertuzzi will be out, and what the precise nature of his injury entails.

Updates to follow soon.
