We have some information regarding moves the Red Wings either attempted to make or are still trying to make.

According to recent comments from TSN insider Darren Dreger it appears that the Red Wings believe Winnipeg Jets defenseman Jacob Trouba, who has just demanded a trade, could be the answer to their blue line problems.

“I know that Cheveldayoff received several offers during the summer," said Dreger as per Nichols on Hockey. " know that one came from Detroit. I’m told that it involved two of their higher-level forwards, and Holland wasn’t willing or able to stomach that. As much as the Detroit Red Wings need defense, they can’t move out multiple pieces of scoring, otherwise they fill one hole and dig another."

With the rumors that have been floating around Detroit one has to believe that either Gustav Nyquist or Tomas Tatar have to be one of the two names the Jets asked for, if they aren't both of them.

It would fill one hole but leave Detroit with a new one on offense, and one has to wonder if it's the right call for the organization to make. Quality defenseman are as a general rule harder to come by, but it's an extremely steep price for a player who is still relatively unproven.
