We have rumors of a major trade involving Detroit Red Wings forward Anthony Mantha and when you consider the source you know it's good.
According to a report from Helen St. James of the Detroit Free Press the Wings are considering making the move to ship Mantha out for help on the defensive end. From St. James:
An early afternoon flight Tuesday into New York afforded Wings brass the opportunity to scout defenseman Cam Fowler as Anaheim played that night at New Jersey. At last asking price, however, the Ducks’ demands included Anthony Mantha.

Obviously this would be a huge move, and while losing Mantha would certainly be a tough pill to swallow, there's no doubt that a guy like Cam Fowler who can eat up 25 minutes a night on the blue line is desperately needed on the Detroit roster at this time.
For the Ducks the benefit is just as obvious, they have too many defensemen, and adding a young guy who can play a top six role would go a long way to securing their position as a perennial contender once again.
