Oh boy this sounds very bad.

This does not sound good at all.
According to a breaking news report from Tom Martin of Buffalo 4 News there has been a nasty looking injury to former 2nd overall pick in the draft Jack Eichel. We don't have any details of the injury but based on Martin's description of events this sounds catastrophic.
First Martin reports that the entire team surrounded Eichel as he was helped off the ice, unable to leave under his own power, and furthermore than a complete and total silence has fallen over the practice facility leading him to state "This appears to be very serious."
We won't know more until the Sabres medical staff makes a report but we will be tracking this story as it develops.
Update: Here is a low quality video of the incident.
Update: It appears to be an ankle injury.
