The Los Angeles Kings and forward Milan Lucic both appear to want to continue their relationship with a new contract, but the numbers may simply not work out for both sides.
According to some reports Milan Lucic is requesting a $36 million dollar contract over the next 6 years, which would earn him $6 million per season. Meanwhile Los Angeles is looking for a deal that is two years shorter, at only 4 years, and furthermore are looking to pay him $5.5 million per season.
While the average annual value could be bridged, we are talking about a difference of $14 million dollars overall and that is a significant gap. Meanwhile there are rumors that teams like Edmonton and Vancouver are waiting in the wings to present Lucic with significant offers, rumors his management has certainly been made aware of.
