Pittsburgh Penguins Phil Kessel made headlines when he poked a little fun at Team USA following their elimination from the World Cup of Hockey at the hands of Team Canada and it got a lot of people upset.

On Friday Kessel was asked about his comments, and he offered a response and, while on the surface it may seem like a blanket apology, it's clearly another veiled jab at Team USA's management, the people who actually opted not to select him to the team.

"Meant no disrespect to players. I have ton of respect for them. Played with them. They're great players & guys," said Kessel.

Kessel singles out the players and mentions the players only, and we don't believe for one second that was an accident, and while the members of USA hockey may not like it, we certainly respect Kessel for standing up for himself.
