At only 32 years old and in perfect health, Curtis Glencross expected to be in demand headed into the 2015-16 season. Unfortunately for him, he has already been released from two professional tryouts and is now forced to take a hard look at his current situation.

And possibly make a hard decision.

“I don’t know what’s going to happen,” said Glencross, per the Calgary Sun.

“I’m trusting that God’s plan for me and my family is bigger than what I can understand at this point. It’s definitely a setback and heartbreak for me knowing that this could be the end.”

Glencross said he's unsure if he wants to wait around for an opportunity in the NHL to arise and is currently weighing his options. He may go play in Europe in the meantime, as he said that the KHL and the AHL are unlikely spots for him to continue his career.

He’s also thinking of looking for work in Calgary, where he’s spent the majority of his NHL career.

The salary cap raise for the 2015-16 campaign was a modest one and as a result team's are being very conservative when offering contracts to free agents. Being a veteran of 507 career games, who twice topped 20 goals in his career, Glencross was expecting to get a multi-year deal before the start of the season. At the moment, it doesn't seem like that is going to happen for him.

Two PTOs into pre-season and no job, for a guy that should be in his prime? All I can say is maybe he should have a talk with his agent about cutting down his asking price, because an annual salary of $2 million doesn't seem to be enticing to many teams.

It would be a sad end to his career.
