The hockey world has lost another memorable figure today.

We are sad to announce the passing of former NHL player and coach James Roberts who was better know as "Jim" or "Jimmy" Roberts to most NHL fans.

While many of our readers will be too young to remember Roberts he had a long and storied career, one that included 5 Stanley Cup Championships as a member of the Montreal Canadiens, and one that also saw him become the first pick of the St. Louis Blues during the 1967 expansion draft.

Roberts would go on to become the Blues' captain before eventually being traded back to Montreal where he ended his career.

While James was no longer a young man at 75 years old, his death is no less tragic, as he finally succumb to his battle with cancer on Friday. Our thoughts are with the Roberts family in this incredibly difficult time.
