Report: One of today's trades may already be a disaster.
One team may have made a big mistake.

One team may have vastly overstepped when making a trade today.
The Buffalo Sabres made a play for the services of Hobey Baker Award winner Jimmy Vesey, by trading for the negotiating rights to the young college hockey star which belonged to the Nashville Predators.
In exchange for the exclusive negotiating window that will last until August 15th, the Sabres gave up a third round pick to the Predators, and it now looks like that pick may have effectively been wasted.
Reporter Nick Filipowski of WKBW in Buffalo, NY reported that he received the following statement from Jimmy Vesey's agent:
"Jimmy's intent at this time has not changed and is prepared to become a free agent on August 15."
Doesn't look like a good move from the Sabres and general manager Tim Murray, at least for now.
The biggest moves of the day belonged to the Toronto Maple Leafs who made a bold move with one of their first round picks, and the Florida Panthers who in a similar move acquired an elite defenseman.
