Would this be enough to turn the team around?
There's a pretty big trade rumor that has comme from a French language reporter for the CBC.
According to Marc-Eric Bouchard the Montreal Canadiens were on the verge of acquiring Philadelphia Flyers forward Wayne Simmonds but the roster freeze prevented the deal from going through.
Bouchard claims he overheard a scout tell someone that the trade wasn't finalized on time while he was in attendance for a game in Calgary, and it's unclear at this time if the trade is still on the table, although Bouchard gave no indication that the two clubs had changed their minds.
Bouchard was asked point blank if the trade would be completed by a fan on social media but he stated "a suivre" which roughly translates to "only time will tell."
One final note, there has been no indication of what Montreal would give up for Simmonds, but Flyer's GM Ron Hextall has built a reputation for getting a high return on his players in trades.
