Sean Avery returns and destroys Islander fans.

You probably have not heard the name of former National Hockey League player Sean Avery in quite some time and if you happen to be a fan of the New York Islanders you're probably going to wish that things had stayed that way.

Avery of course has not played in the National Hockey League in several years but in spite of that he remains one of the most infamous names associated with the NHL due to both his antics on the ice as well as his antics off the ice. For that reason the last person you would expect to criticize others for being to free with their speech would be Avery himself, especially since he does not often tend to comment on the National Hockey League these days, but that is exactly what happened this week.

As many of you will already know there was a very high profile hockey game in New York on Thursday night when former New York Islanders captain John Tavares made his long awaited return to the city. Tavares, the former captain of the New York Islanders franchise, has become publicly enemy #1 in Long Island and everyone was expecting the building to be extremely hostile to him, and the fans in Long Island certainly did not disappoint. The chorus of boos that rained down on Tavares was intense and the chants throughout the Islanders 6 - 1 domination of Tavares and his Maple Leafs were brutal to say the least. Fans paid their hard earned money and were expressing their displeasure towards a player that they felt abandoned them, all well within their rights, but Avery did not appear to see things that way.

What has come as a result of Avery's displeasure with the Islanders fan base is profanity and insult laden rant that goes on for roughly a minute, and I must admit I think the entire thing is rather comical. Not only does Avery come to the defenseman of Tavares, and not only does he go in hard on the fans of the New York Islanders franchise, but he even rubs some salt in the wound by calling back to his days as a Ranger when he played in Long Island.

I for one would love to see more of these in the future.
