The Pittsburgh Penguins have made a trade today to acquire some depth on the blueline.

The team has announced today that they have acquired defenseman Ron Hainsey from the Carolina  Hurricanes in exchange for a 2nd round pick and Danny Kristo.  


Hainsey, 35, registered 14 points (4 goals, 10 assists) in 52 games with the Hurricanes this season. Hainsey is a veteran of 14 NHL seasons, spending time with the Montreal Canadiens, Colombus Blue Jackets, Atlanta Thrashers, Winnipeg Jets and Carolina Hurricanes.

 In 851 career regular season games he has 250 points (49 goals, 201 assists) and 386 penalty minutes.

Carolina retains 50 percent of Ron Hainsey salary/cap hit in the trade
