UPDATE: Veteran Injuries

Update on the injury front.

As the Detroit Red Wings ready themselves to face off against the St. Louis Blues tomorrow night, there are still two important pieces of the team that are missing. Long-serving defenseman Niklas Kronwall has been sidelined due to a knee injury he suffered last season which has forced him to sit out all seven regular season games thus far, but he reportedly practiced this morning with the rest of his team.

 

 

Though veteran forward Justin Abdelkader continues to nurse a mysterious lower-body injury, it appears that he won’t be placed on the injured reserve for the time being. In fact, after team practice this morning, he took the time to speak with journalists and did not sound completely convinced that he would play in tomorrow’s game:



 

Moreover, head coach Jeff Blashill has indicated that Abdelkader’s status will be determined tomorrow:
