Former New York Rangers, Montreal Canadiens and Vancouver Canucks’ forward Brandon Prust was offered a professional tryout contract with the Toronto Maple Leafs yesterday.

He’ll get a chance to prove that he can still be of use to a team. Moreover, he gets to potentially fulfill one of his lifelong dreams, he told NHL.com:

“Growing up a Leafs fan, I know that’s kind of where my heart is. I’ve always wanted to play for the Leafs. I figure this will be a great opportunity for me.”

After undergoing surgery to repair a nagging ankle injury last season, Prust believes that… “Every team wants to see that my ankle and my foot speed are good… That’s one of the reasons nobody was willing to give me a contract outright…”
