A 101 year old man has just revealed his secret to longevity.

Andrew E. Slavonic turned 101 on December 1st and as breaking the 100 year barrier remains a relatively uncommon feat everyone wanted to know what his secret to an extra long life was. Now you might have expected Slavonic to discuss exercise or perhaps a healthy diet of some kind but instead he cited his favorite beverage. Slavonic gives all of the credit instead to his daily routine involving a nice cold Coors Light beer.

“In 1996, he actually started drinking regular Coors beer,” Andrew’s son, Bob Slavonic, told Fox News. “He switched to Coors Light beer about 15 years ago. I think I am the one to blame for the switch because that is all that I have been drinking for about the past 25 years.”

Apparently for at least the past 15 years Andrew has had himself a nice, cold Coors Light beer every single day at 4:00 pm on the dot, a tradition that he continues to carry on to this day even at his old age. The former WW2 Air Force Veteran obviously has a lot more things than a simple beer to thank for his long life though, but his son believes that his daily routine remains an integral part of his father's longevity.

“He gets up at 8:30 every day and gets dressed and goes into the kitchen ready to cook his own breakfast,” Bob said of his father. “Later, after he makes his own lunch, he goes into his home office and reads through the daily newspaper.” Andrew reads his mail and paper on a large magnifying screen given to him by the VA.

“Around 4:00 p.m., he tells me that it is 4:00 p.m., and it is time for our beer,” Bob said. “He gets his Coors Light from the garage beer fridge and enjoys a nice cold one.”

As a man who distinguished himself in the defense of his country I think everyone can be happy about the fact that Andrew has been rewarded with a good, long, life for the sacrifices he has made throughout. Here's to many more birthdays.
