Rimouski Oceanic (QMJHL) rookie phenom Alexis Lafreniere had a really good game yesterday, helping his team to beat the Shawinigan Cataractes by a score of 5-2. In this game, the 16-year old forward scored a hat-trick, and he now has 28 goals in only 41 games played so far. He also added 26 assists, so he produced a total of 54 points so far this season.

Drafted first overall in the last QMJHL draft, Lafreniere only turned 16 in October, which means that we will play three full seasons of junior hockey before he'll become draft eligible in...2020.

This will be interesting to keep an eye on him and to see which teams will have a shot at drafting him. He is already compared to players such as Mario Lemieux and Vincent Lecavalier (who also played his junior hockey in Rimouski). Many believe that Lafreniere will be the first overall pick in the 2020 draft.
