Horrible news from a young man.

One National Hockey League forward has reportedly suffered irreversible damage.

24-year-old Montreal Canadien Brendan Gallagher was recently struck in the hand by a hard shot from teammate Shea Weber, and that shot appears to have done permanent damage to the poor young man.

During a radio interview on TSN's 690 Gallagher told listeners that while he fully expects that he will be able to recover well enough to maintain his hockey career, his fingers will "never be the same" outside of hockey.

It's a tough reminder of how dangerous and how brutal a game these young men play night in and night out, and it's hard not to feel for a young man who has suffered such a debilitating injury this early in his professional career.
