25+ goal centre up for grabs on the trade market!

The Ottawa Senators are not the team open for business, as the Canadian team just snapped a five-game losing streak Wednesday night but still remain far from playoff contention. General manager Pierre Dorion is expected to sell - as he mentioned himself that he is looking at every one of his players, but one could be traded sooner than later.

According to NHL insider Nick Kypreos, forward Mike Hoffman is the name he’s hearing the most regarding Senators trade speculation. The Sportsnet insider believes the 28-year-old centre will get traded faster than most.

Hoffman is a versatile player with great offensive boost, and several rival clubs would jump on the opportunity to add him to their roster for the playoff push. The Pittsburgh Penguins, Anaheim Ducks, San Jose Sharks, Vancouver Canucks and St. Louis Blues are all on the market for an offensive centreman.

In 30 games with the Sens this season, Hoffman has recorded nine goals and 22 points. For the last three seasons in Ottawa, he has tallied at least 25 goals or more.

The Sens are being watched closely to see if they will move captain Erik Karlsson, as Kypreos believes it makes no sense for a team at the bottom of the league to re-sign a soon-to-be 30-year-old player to an eight-year deal worth perhaps $90 million.

However, Hoffman is the one who could be move imminently.
