Today was the start of something we keep you posted on every afternoon on Hockey Feed, as teams could officially begin placing players on waivers On Friday. While October 1st is correctly listed as the last day to put a player on waivers and have them clear before the final 23-man cap-compliant roster is due on October 2, the league always allows some last-minute decisions, and today, 16 of them hit the waiver wire.

The Buffalo Sabres placed forward Matt Moulson on waivers.  The 2017-18 season marked the first time he failed to register a single point at the NHL level... far from his former glory.

The Chicago Blackhawks placed two players on waivers today, in former first rounder Jordan Schroeder and defenseman Andrew Campbell.

The Vegas Golden Knights and the Florida Panthers each placed three players on the waiver wire today. The Golden Knights waived Alex Gallant and Zachary Leslie, but also place netminder Oscar Dansk up for grabs. As for the Panthers, they are letting go of a netminder as well as they waived Michael Hutchinson. They also placed defenseman Ludwig Bystrom and Paul Thompson with him.

The Pittsburgh Penguins have decided to waive forward Frederik Tiffels on the unconditional waiver wire. According to Chris Johnston of Sportsnet, Pittsburgh is doing so in order to terminate his contract.

The Philadelphia Flyers are making the most of the waivers on Friday, by placing five players on it. Philip Varone, Danick Martel, Greg Carey, T.J. Brennan and Cole Bardeau have all hit the wire in Philly on Friday.

The St. Louis Blues also went all out, waiving a total of six players. Centre Jordan Nolan, forward Brian Flynn, defenseman Tyler Wotherspoon, blue liner Chris Butler, goalie Jordan Binnington and defender Joey LaLeggia are all part of today's action on the wire.

The Vancouver Canucks also placed players on waivers. Tanner Kero, an AHL veteran, was hoping to impress in the Canadian city, but did not manage to find a way to make it out longer during the team's training camp. He is joined by another goalie Richard Bachman.

Finally, the Edmonton Oilers have placed right winger Mitch Callahan and defenseman Ryan Stanton.

This is your complete listing on the waiver wire as on today. Season is almost here, the waiver wire smells like it!
