The Boston Bruins walked away with a gigantic win over the Toronto Maple Leafs on Saturday night in Game 2 of their first round playoff series in the 2019 Stanley Cup Finals. It was unquestionably a statement game for the Bruins who responded to a Game 1 loss at home by thoroughly dominating the Maple Leafs in Game 2 in just about every facet of the game.

There of course has been plenty of fallout from that game as well with many awaiting the inevitable announcement of a big time suspension to Toronto Maple Leafs forward Nazem Kadri. That being said though if there is a positive takeaway for the Toronto Maple Leafs from Game 2 of this series, it is that none of their players appeared to be too banged up following the game itself. Unfortunately for the Boston Bruins however it seems like their win may have cost them somewhat.

According to a breaking news report from Fluto Shinzawa of the Boston Globe, there are no fewer than 4 members of the Boston Bruins who are currently listed as day to day with either injuries or some form of minor ailment. First we will start with the 3 from this group of 4 that will be traveling with the team as the series heads back to Toronto. According to Shinzawa, although they are currently listed as day to day, Jake DeBrusk, Torey Krug, and Connor Clifton will all be traveling with the team in spite of the fact that they appear to have suffered injuries.

DeBrusk was involved in a large number of altercations in Game 2 so it would be hard to pinpoint exactly when he got injured, but if I had to venture a guess I would suggest that the vicious crosscheck he took to the head from Leafs forward Nazem Kadri may have played a factor. Krug of course was absolutely crushed by a thunderous body check from Leafs defenseman Jake Muzzin and there were immediately concerns about a concussion following that hit, the fact that he travels with the team though is a good sign.

Perhaps the biggest concern however should be for veteran forward Marcus Johansson. Johansson was ruled out with an illness in Game 2 and, although that may be a smokescreen for something else, it seems like it might be a pretty bad illness. According to Shinzawa it is bad enough that Johansson will not be traveling with the team in spite of also being listed as day to day.
