Five of the seven Canadian hockey teams were in action last night - on somewhat of a slow Tuesday when just seven games were on the schedule. However, it didn’t stop insider Ken Campbell from the Hockey News to notice that four of those five Canadian teams failed to reach their usual sellout crowds and pointed out that a problem could be arising in the National Hockey League.

The only Canadian team that managed to sell out last night was the Toronto Maple Leafs, who downed the Minnesota Wild 4-2. However, Campbell reveals that Winnipeg, Calgary, Vancouver and Montreal below capacity. Which is unusual.

As we all know Ottawa struggled last week and attendance numbers have just been awful since the start of the 2019-20. It doesn’t help when other Canadian teams show dips in attendance numbers.

“With a crowd of 14,764, tonight marked the first time since the Jets went back to Winnipeg that they’ve failed to sell out a game. They had sold out the previous 332 games at the MTS Centre, including playoffs, before tonight.”

Obviously, in terms of attendance records, Tuesday nights are expected to be less crowded than a game scheduled on a Saturday night. However, in the Canadian market, it usually does not prevent teams from selling out…

It did yesterday…
