For many fans and players free agency can be an exciting time when major changes are made and new paths can carved out, but for some it's a less pleasant experience, one where you are left waiting and wondering if you'll get another shot.

In a terrific article recently penned for The Score, writer Craig Hagerman looked at five National Hockey League veterans who might not make it back into the league this season, despite the fact that they in all likelihood would desire another shot.

The players in Hagerman's list all find themselves in similar scenarios, with one notable exception, they are veteran NHL players who have largely failed to live up to their expectations in recent seasons, and seemingly have burned all their good will.

The list of five goes as follows.

#1 Mike Richards

#2 John Scott

#3 Rene Bourque

#4 Christian Ehrhoff

#5 Cody Hogson

For a complete breakdown one each player, check out Hagerman's full story here, well worth the read.[pub]
