A Legend has died today.

William Patrick "Foxy" Dineen also know as Bill Dineen died today at the age of 84 (september 18th, 1932 - December 10th, 2016).

Dineen played for 5 years with the Detroit Red Wings, 1954-1958, and won two Stanley Cups before ending his career in the minors. Funny story about Bill, throughout his career, he was traded 3 times for the same player, Bob Bailey.

He ended his professional career in the minors before coaching the Houston Aeros in the World Hockey Association. During his 7-year coaching tenure (1972-1979) in the WHA, he won 2 championships. 

Twelve years later, Dineen coached the Philadelphia Flyers and was the very first to coach Eric Lindros, now into the Hall of Fame.

Three of his sons are currently part of an NHL staff. Kevin is an assistant coach for the Chicago Blackhawks, Gord is an assistant-coach for the Toronto Marlies and Peter is a scout for the Columbus Blue Jackets
