This coming season might be a tough one for the Canucks. They dealt away two fan favorites in Kevin Bieksa and Eddie Lack and didn`t really add much in a very tough division. However, the Canucks do have one of the more promising rookie pools in the NHL. Many of those prospects showed what they could do during the rookie tournament. Connor McDavid definitely knows he better keep his head up when Jake Virtanen is on the ice. So at least we have something to look forward to.

Here is a look at some of the top Vancouver prospects:

Bo Horvat: He had himself a solid first NHL season as a 19 year. He settled into the fourth line and even had 13 goals and led the team in rookie scoring. He is great a faceoffs as he proved in the playoffs and even had 4 points in six playoff games. This kid is only going to get better. No more fourth line for him.

Jake Virtanen: One of the Canucks top prospects, he has already made a name for himself this season. During the rookie tournament he lit up Connor McDavid with a huge hit and showed he is ready to dish out more. He is a guy who can score with a physical edge and looks to be a promising NHL player. Keep your head up Connor!

Jared McCann:He came along quite well last season in the OHL and even played with Utica during their playoffs. He will be a reliable two way player and shouldn’t disappoint. He might not be ready just yet, but he isn’t far off.

Cole Cassels: He lit it up in the CHL this past season and was a huge part in helping the Oshawa Generals win the Memorial Cup. He is NHL ready and should easily make the team. His father, Andrew Cassels who played for the Canucks, will definitely help him adjust to the NHL game. Though we doubt he will have any trouble adjusting.

Sven Baertschi: Acquired from the Flames at the deadline last year, Sven scored 2 goals in his first 3 games with the Canucks. He then tapered off and was sent down to the AHL where he ended up being a point per game player. He will definitely want to stick around with the Knucks this time and has the offensive talent to win himself a spot.
