In less than 24 hours, there will be no more clock. You've heard it ticking for the past months now and it is almost the end of the ongoing questions: will the Toronto Maple Leafs be able to re-sign William Nylander, will he be traded, or will he sit out the entire year?!

One NHL insider that has always kept it straight with Leafs fans on the situation is TSN's Bob McKenzie and his approach wasn't any different on Friday evening when he spoke with Gino Reda on the situation.

In his insider segment, McKenzie explained that Leafs fans will likely have to go the distance with this situation, as Nylander likely will not make a decision until the last moment.

"I believe that it is much more likely to carry over to the final day. If I am William Nylander, I have to believe that the Toronto Maple Leafs' last, best and final offer will come on Saturday, not on Friday. And if I'm the Toronto Maple Leafs, I have to believe that William Nylander is going to be that much more open to accepting a contract on the very final day, leading up to the final hours before the deadline than he is with 24 hours still to go. For all of those reasons, I believe this is more likely to carry over to Saturday than to be settled one way or the other on Friday."

While it seems we need to be a little more patient, the NHL insider doesn't believe we should hold our breath on a potential trade. In the eyes of McKenzie, it doesn’t look as though Nylander will be part of a trade to join a new team.

"At the end of the day, I don't believe the Leafs are being offered fair value for William Nylander. I'd be absolutely shocked if William Nylander were to be traded by the 5pm deadline. If I were ranking 1) he signs, 2) he doesn't signs and he doesn't play in the National Hockey League this season, or 3) he gets traded. And 3, being traded, is a distant 3, to no. 1 and no.2."

McKenzie can surely be trusted as he knows everything going on in the NHL, and it sure seems like his ranking gives a better idea of what will take place tomorrow and brings us a step closer to a resolution between the Leafs and Nylander.

Nylander must sign a contract by Saturday at 5pm et in order to play in the NHL this season, leaving the team with less than a day to work out a deal.

In less 24 hours this whole thing will finally be over!
