After disappointing year, Ryan laughs about contract, Vegas expansion.

It's surprising he's that casual about it.

NHL teams sometimes give contracts to players that leave commentators and fans in dismay. Huge sums of money are given to players with the hope of securing their immense upside for years to come. It sometimes pays off awesomely, but sometimes the deals turn a bit sour.

It's a bit of what happened with Bobby Ryan. The former #2 overall pick in the 2005 entry draft had some good years with the Anaheim Ducks before being traded to the Senators and signing a monstrous deal back in 2015-2016 for 7 years and 50M$. With a meager 25 points this year, fans were angry about his performance until he had a nice revival during the playoffs.

With the expansion draft fast incoming for the Vegas Golden Knights, Bobby Ryan could be exposed to be moved to the new franchise. When questioned about it, he had this hilarious answer to give.

It's both refreshing and funny to see him being so relaxed about how his contract doesn't make sense even for an expansion team. He's a seasoned veteran, but at over 7M$ a year, there's no chance he would be picked by the Vegas team and go through the last 5 years of his contract.

The only option would be for the Vegas management to pick Ryan to boost their salary cap and reach the floor level. However, there are dozens of better option to spend the money, needless to say.
