After trying to avoid it all year Blues forced to place young forward on waivers.

The St. Louis Blues have just made a move they have been trying very hard to avoid.

According to a report from Tom Timmerman of the Columbus Post-Dispatch, the Blues have placed young forward Ty Rattie on waivers on Tuesday, this despite doing everything in their power to keep him up on the National Hockey League roster, including over a dozen healthy scratches.

The motivation for this seems to be the very real fear from the Blues that they might lose the services of Rattie on the waiver wire, although it's unclear if St. Louis fears a claim from any specific organization.

Should he end up in the American Hockey League or if he is in fact claimed by another NHL team it's likely in the best interest of Rattie as his development was going nowhere in his current situation.
