The news came hard on the Edmonton Oilers, their fanbase and the rest of the National Hockey League on Tuesday, when it was announced that forward Colby Cave has been placed in a medically-induced coma and is now in the critical care unit at Toronto’s Sunnybrook Hospital.

At first, it was explained that Cave suffered a brain bleed that happened overnight, but his agent wanted to make sure fans knew everything about his condition.

That’s why he revealed later on Tuesday to Sportsnet’s Mark Spector that Cave’s condition has no links to COVID-19 .

The 25-year-old forward has appeared in 67 career NHL games with the Oilers and Boston Bruins.

The Oilers sent him the best of thoughts and posted his lone goal from the 2019-20 season on Twitter.

“Colby is an awesome person who scored an awesome goal for us this season,” the team said. “The entire Oilers family is sending you all our love and strength right now.”

We are glad to hear that Cave’s health is no further affected by the ongoing pandemic and hope that he will recover from this brain bleed.

We send him and his family all the best during this difficult time.
