A career American Hockey League player has just showcased some seriously impressive talents.

As all of our readers will know the National Hockey League held it's annual All Star festivities over the week end but what you may not know is that the American Hockey League was holding a very similar event over the week end as well. Although as you would expect the AHL version of the All Star Game is much less of a draw than the NHL All Star Game, that does not mean that the skills being showcased during the event are not to be admired.

In fact on Sunday night one American Hockey League player  Anthony Greco of the Springfield Thunderbirds, actually blew what would have been his NHL competition right out of the water by recording the fastest time of the year in the fastest skaters skill competition. By that I do not mean that he was competing against NHL level players during the AHL All Star Game but rather that his time during the competition, a competition that was identical to the one held at the NHL level, would have beaten any of the competitors who participated in the event this week.

The competition at the NHL level was unsurprisingly once again dominated by Edmonton Oilers forward Connor McDavid. McDavid won the competition for the third consecutive year with a time of 13.378 seconds, but unfortunately for him that time has now been surpaced in the AHL. Greco just barely beat the impressive time set by McDavid by just a fraction of a second, but there is no question that his 13.251 was better.

Here's a video replay of his time.
