After all the dust has finally settled in the second round of the NHL's 2020 entry draft lottery, the top pick is going to the New York Rangers. Alexis Lafreniere will almost certainly be suiting up for that club, unless the team makes the unlikely decision to trade away the first overall pick. Here's the official order as it has been determined:

Draft order after Lottery 2

1. New York Rangers
2. Los Angeles Kings
3. Ottawa Senators (from San Jose)
4. Detroit Red Wings
5. Ottawa Senators
6. Anaheim Ducks
7. New Jersey Devils
8. Buffalo Sabres
9. Minnesota Wild
10. Winnipeg Jets
11. Nashville Predators
12. Florida Panthers
13. Carolina Hurricanes (via Toronto Maple Leafs in the Patrick Marleau trade)
14. Edmonton
15. Pittsburgh or Minnesota (Pittsburgh has the choice to defer the trade to 2021 as per the Jason Zucker trade)

The remaining 16 first-round selections will be determined by the results of the playoffs.

Sportsnet analyst Brian Burke continued to trash the selection process as it was decided this year, calling the system broken, adding the draft should be designed to give the poorest teams the most help.
