When Nashville Predators GM David Poile announced that he’d pulled off a blockbuster trade last offseason in which the team parted ways with long-time captain Shea Weber in exchange for dynamic defender PK Subban, the hockey world was in shock. The popular sentiment at the time was that the Canadiens, in acquiring Weber, probably get better in the short term, but the Preds undoubtedly get better in the long term. Of course, in the season immediately following the trade the Preds, led by Subban, rocketed all the way to the Stanley Cup Final, while the Habs failed to live up to expectations yet again.
While you’ll have a hard time finding a real Preds fan with anything bad to say about Shea Weber, it’s clear that the team’s fanbase is happy to have PK on board. Just watch the crowd reaction in this highlight package below:
