Toronto Maple Leafs forward Nazem Kadri has never been one to hide his emotions. For better or worse, Kadri has NO problem showing his fiery spirit. Sometimes though, as it has in his first round playoff series against the Boston Bruins, Kadri’s competitive spirit gets the better of him.

Of course, this was evident from his blatant attack on Bruins forward Jake DeBrusk.

The cross check earned Kadri a five game suspension. He’ll be eligible to return to the Leafs’ lineup should they get past the Bruins in Game 7 action tomorrow evening. In the meantime, he’s been dead quiet regarding his suspension.

Yesterday though, Kadri finally broke his silence in coming to the aid of teammate Morgan Rielly. It’s Kadri’s opinion that Rielly was snubbed in the league’s Norris Trophy voting.

Check it out:

No doubt that Rielly is a deserving candidate, but so too are Brent Burns, Victor Hedman and Mark Giordano. You could maybe quibble that Rielly deserves a nomination over Hedman but… c’mon Naz, this is Giordano’s year going away. Bobby Orr and Nicklas Lidstrom could be the other two candidates and Giordano would still come out the winner this season. And deservedly so, the  35 year old Calgary Flames captain put up an incredible 17 goals and 69 points this season.
