The Anaheim Ducks have announced a pair of contract extensions, both of which should be considered relatively minor deals for the organization.

According to an announcement from the Anaheim Ducks official website, the team agreed to brand new contract extensions to center Sam Carrick and to defenseman Brendan Guhle. In the case of Carrick the new deal will be a one year contract while Guhle on the other hand will be receiving an extra year of term on his deal with a two year contract. Both men were under contract until the end of the 2019 - 2020 National Hockey League season, however given the current limbo that season finds itself in it was unclear what would be happening to players on expiring contracts.

The Anaheim Ducks have chosen not to disclose the financial details of these deals, however I think that it is safe to suggest that, at least in the case of Carrick, he will be earning somewhere near the league minimum. Carrick was previously on a one year deal that paid him $700,000 while Guhle on the other hand is coming off of his entry level deal and has now accepted a bridge deal from the Ducks. Guhle is coming off of a performance at the 2019 American Hockey League All Star Game and may have had more financial leverage in negotiations for this deal than Carrick did. That being said Guhle has been a fringe NHL player and spent 27 games this season in the American Hockey League with the San Diego Gulls, so he likely will also earn something near the league minimum on this new deal.

Guhle appeared in 30 games for the Ducks last season recording 4 goals and 4 assists for a combined 8 points on the season, finishing with a plus minus rating of -2. Carrick on the other hand only appeared in 9 games this season for the Ducks recording 1 goal and 1 assist for a combined 2 points on the season. In his case he finished with a plus minus rating of -3 over those 9 games. Carrick spent the majority of his time in the AHL this season, appearing in 46 games for the Gulls.
