Another minor deal goes down on Monday afternoon.

The second trade of the day.

We have our second trade of the day, and like the first one it's a relatively minor deal.

The Buffalo Sabres have announced that they have acquired the rights to prospect Jimmy Vesey from the Nashville Predators in exchange for a third round draft choice.

Perhaps the most interesting part of this trade is it appears to put the rest the rumors of potential tampering from the Maple Leafs that surrounded Vesey after he refused to sign with the Predators despite reportedly giving assurances he would do so.

Vesey, through his agent, would go on to make it clear that he did not intend to sign with the Predators, the team that drafted him 66th overall in 2012, and that is undoubtedly the motivation behind this deal.

As for the Sabres they now have the exclusive negotiating rights for Vesey and have until August 15th to get a deal done before he becomes an unrestricted free agent.

However the news of the day remains the massive trade by the Maple Leafs involving one of their first round picks.
