Another potential location emerges for the continuation of the hockey season

We’ve heard of at least a couple of potential locations for the continuation of the 2019-20 season should hockey return for the summer. The idea would be for teams to play in neutral sites that aren’t as populated as some NHL cities in order to minimize the risk. So far, locations in Colorado and Saskatchewan have been mentioned. Another has now come to light.

According to Ken Laird, a sports radio host in Boston, New Hampshire Governor Chris Sununu has personally talked with NHL Commissioner Gary Bettman about using Manchester as a site.

“The offer is on the table,” Sununu told Laird.

The Southern New Hampshire University Arena appears to be the venue that’s being looked at. It is the home of the Manchester Monarchs, which once played in the AHL but is currently operating in the ECHL. The Boston Bruins have played preseason games at the arena in the past.

The idea of neutral locations is just one of the options being looked at by the NHL to award the Stanley Cup for the 2019-20 season. Deputy Commissioner Bill Daly has stated its not the preferred option for the league but one being investigated anyway, just in case.

NHL players are currently under self-quarantine until April 30th. That period has been extended from its original March date on three separate occasions.
