Any potential trade involving defenseman Travis Hamonic now in jeopardy.

This will certainly impact ongoing discussions.

Fans who were hoping to see New York Islanders defenseman Travis Hamonic traded, especially fans in Western Canada, may have to wait until at least the offseason.

Hamonic, who has been on the trading block ever since requesting a trade prior to the start of this season, has suffered an injury, and according to Newsday he will miss up to three weeks of play. No details have emerged on what the injury is, all we known thus far is that it's a lower-body injury.

This will almost certainly impact any ongoing negotiations, given that Hamonic will likely only return in February, which will leave him less than a month to get back into game shape prior to the trade deadline. We don't believe Islanders' GM Garth Snow has any intention of trading Hamonic unless he believes he's getting maximum value in return.
