“It was embarrassing...”

A lot of the attention was on the Toronto Maple Leafs and their 4-1 loss to the Arizona Coyotes on Monday night that snapped the team’s six-game winning streak, but head coach Mike Babcock wanted to first address a more important issue in his post-game press conference.

As he looked at the transcript of the presser from the morning's skate, Babcock felt the need to apologize to a female reporter, some believe it was Rosie Dimanno, for being a jerk when asked about the Leafs' line combinations.

"That’s not the way to treat anybody. Disrespectful. I saw it later and it was disrespectful."

At the morning skate, Babcock had been quite hard on the reporter when asked why he would split Auston Matthews and Mitch Marner after their success against the Montreal Canadiens on Saturday.

The beauty of this is when you get to coach the team, you’ll get to do what you want,” Babcock said Monday morning. “When I coach the team, I do what I want. This is what I think – I like to win every night. That’s what I try to do."

At least, Babcock admitted he was wrong and apologized for his poor decision.
