Babcock heaps praise on Canucks’ Sedin twins

Foreshadowing for a deadline move?

While head coach Mike Babcock didn’t get the result he wanted on Saturday as his Toronto Maple Leafs dropped a close 2-1 decision to the Vancouver Canucks, he did walk away with something of value. Babcock used the game to evaluate the play of 37 year-old identical twins Henrik Sedin and Daniel Sedin.

The legendary Canucks put on another show Saturday night and proved to the Leafs bench boss that, even at age 37, they’re not done yet. 


While the Sedins aren’t the players they used to be, it’s hard to argue with coach Babcock. In 27 games so far this season, both Daniel and Henrik have an identical 16 points. Their production level and ice time has diminished over the last year, but they’re still able to pull off magic like this:


Now… imagine that kind of puck possession on the Leafs power play? It’s unlikely to ever happen… but it’s fun to dream.
