The Toronto Maple Leafs are off to one of their hottest starts in 100 years. They're scoring at will - with a staggering 22 goals through only 4 games. Their rivals in Montreal have 5 in the same amount of games.

Their 22 goals are the most by any team thus far in the NHL - and despite scoring 3 last night against the New Jersey Devils, they took their first loss of the season.

Still - the Leafs remain an incredibly exciting team to watch, but head coach Mike Babcock has some sobering words for fans who may be getting too excited by this offensive dominance.

“I think that’s the way it is early,” Babcock said to The Toronto Sun. “I don’t think the goalies are dialed in like they normally are. I don’t think the team defence is dialed in like it’s going to be.

“Score the goals while you can because they go away fast.”

He isn't wrong - typically, the season starts off with a barrage of goals for most teams, before things eventually settle down to the norm.

With the way the Toronto young guns are performing, it's just so hard to imagine that they can't keep up this incredible pace.

Time will tell.
