In case you missed it, the Toronto Maple Leafs dropped a 3-1 decision to the Calgary Flames last night, thanks in large part to two point performances from Flames forwards Sean Monahan and Elias Lindholm.

Nazem Kadri pulled the Leafs to within on goal in the third period and Morgan Rielly appeared to tie the game late, but it was a premature celebration on the Leafs’ part. The puck never went in the net and was in fact just stuck on the side of the mesh.

For the full highlights watch the video below:

After the game Leafs head coach Mike Babcock was clearly NOT happy with his team's performance and he wasted no words in describing their effort on the evening. Check it out:

Babcock: "The game's frustrating when the other team works harder than you."

Ouch. Not good enough, boys. Not good enough.

In all fairness though, the Leafs' players echoed their head coach's sentiment and admitted that they need to perform better if they're expected to win on a nightly basis. Superstar John Tavares was clearly not happy with his performance or his team's performance.

"We just didn’t execute and just got away from some of the things we do well. They came out hard, ready to play and took advantage of our mistakes."

Forward Zach Hyman made similar statements, going on to say that the Leafs have to be better at ScotiaBank Arena.

"We have to start playing a full 60 minutes at home. It’s important to do that. We’ve got to be better at home."

The good news? Babcock has two days to whip the Leafs back into shape before Thursday's contest against the Dallas Stars

As for the Flames, the top line of Monahan, Lindholm and Johnny Gaudreau continues to roll along. The trio has a combined 39 points in 12 games. Not bad. Not bad at all.
