Barrie must fulfill bold prediction now that he’s a Leaf!

He might regret saying this now...

The Toronto Maple Leafs had no other choice to bolster their struggling blue line and the call was answered when GM Kyle Dubas traded for Tyson Barrie on Monday.

And we must admit that it seems like a perfect fit, but perfect does come with expectations. Especially when Barrie himself made a bold prediction about playing for a Canadian team that he now has to fulfill as a member for the Maple Leafs.

Barrie was exposed by his longtime teammate Erik Johnson of the Colorado Avalanche, who said goodbye on Instagram. Johnson left a little nugget at the end of his message, saying that apparently Barrie “always said [he] played in Canada, [he’d] win the Norris.”

While it is true that four of the last eight Norris trophy winners have been from Canada, Barrie will need to put his money where his mouth is.

Do you think he can achieve this, Leafs fans?
