Washington Capitals head coach Barry Trotz won his 737th win in the NHL against the New Jersey Devils on Saturday night, passing Lindy Ruff to take sole possession of the fifth rang on the NHL's all-time list.
Trotz, 55, was the first head coach of the Nashville Predators. He spent 15 seasons in Tennessee, before joining the Capitals in 2014. He won the Jack Adams Award (best coach) in 2015-2016 after his second season in Washington. Trotz never reached the third round of the playoffs as a coach.
The next coach Trotz could catch is the great Al Arbour, who sits fourth with 782 wins.
