It seems safe to say that the Dallas Stars' number one goaltender is not very happy.

On Sunday night the Dallas Stars took on the Detroit Red Wings at Little Caesars Arena in midtown Detroit and it was likely a game that the Dallas Stars fully expected to win, and for good reason. It's not an exaggeration to say that the Red Wings have been one of the very worst teams in the National Hockey League to start the 2018 - 2019 NHL regular season and you have to wonder if that may not have played a part in the Stars loss this evening.

I don't believe it's outside of the realm of possibility to suggest that the Stars may have come into tonight's contest looking past the Red Wings given their recent struggles, but if that was indeed the case the Stars were on the receiving end of a rude awakening on Sunday night. The Wings clearly came to play and after looking uninspired at times during the regular season at times you could tell that once the Wings' took the lead they were desperate to get a little taste of victory, something that has eluded them far too often this season.

In the end the Wings walked away with what has to be a confidence and moral boosting 4 - 2 victory over the Stars, and one member of the Stars in particular appeared to be disgusted by the loss. Stars number one goaltender Ben Bishop was quite vocal after the loss that losing to a team in the state that the Red Wings now find themselves was simply unacceptable.

"It’s really unacceptable, to be honest, said Bishop. "We come in here against a team that’s been struggling and we go out and kind of just play to their level."

The comments were clearly meant as a knock against his team and his own performance, but there's no mistaking the fact that they are also a damning commentary on the current state of the Red Wings. If opposing teams are embarrassed after losing to you it's a sign of the fact that you currently have very little respect from around the league.

Bishop however did have good reason to be embarrassed, his .867 save percentage on the night was a far cry from his performance thus far this season, and he likely put a great deal of blame on himself for the loss.
