Alright, brace yourself Boston Bruins fans: when you thought things couldn't possibly get worse, they might just have. During the second period of the tilt between the Bruins and the Dallas Stars, star player Patrice Bergeron left the game with what appeared to be a head injury, which is terrible news for the veteran forward and his team.

Bergeron was rammed into the boards by Stars' Radek Faksa. The biggest impact of the collision seemed focused on poor Bergeron's head. The veteran forward was visibly shaken after a collision against the boards, and while he skated to the dressing

room on his own power, this has to be worrisome for his health and career.

The 33-year-old has a massive concussion history since the start of his career in the National Hockey League, when he was drafted by the Bruins, in the second round, 45th overall in the 2003 entry draft.

You can see the dangerous hit here:

His teammate Brad Marchand stepped in in his defense and went after Faska following the hit. Marchand was penalized an extra two-minute for roughing as he and Faska headed to the penalty box. However, Marchand racked up more penalty minutes once out of the sin bin as he got two minutes and a misconduct for slashing Stars goalie Ben Bishop, who acted like a wimp on the play.

The Bruins lost Zdeno Chara to a lower body injury during Wednesday’s game in Colorado. The veteran defenseman took an awkward fall while finishing a check and did not return to the game. He’s been sent home to Boston for further evaluation by the team’s doctors and is out of the team’s lineup indefinitely.

If Chara misses any significant length of time he’ll join fellow B’s blue liners Kevan Miller, Charlie McAvoy, Urho Vaakanainen and Brandon Carlo on the injured reserve. In effect, the Bruins are missing their top three right sided defensemen… and their top pairing altogether.

Let's hope Bergeron feels better soon.

UPDATE: We cannot believe it. Bergy is back on the ice. There is nothing that can stop this man from playing hockey!
