Although you can easily question the decision, you kind of have to admire the way Canadiens GM Marc Bergevin has stuck to his guns this season despite an incredible amount of public pressure.

With the Canadiens collapse this season their fanbase, one of the most passionate in all of hockey, was calling for blood and a great deal of the blame fell at the feet of head coach Michel Therrien and rightfully so. Night in and night out his club appeared to put out lacklustre efforts and his inability to adapt to the situation was called into question repeatedly.

Despite that Bergevin stuck by his head coach the whole way through, and now it appears he will double down on that and announce that Therrien will be his head coach next season. According to comments from TSN's Darren Dreger on Thursday night's segment of Insider Trading, Bergevin wants to give Therrien another chance to work with a healthy club.

Montreal did deal with some bad injuries to key players this season, but this is unlikely to be a popular decision in Montreal.
