It isn't because he isn't trying!

“Bergevin has really tried to see what’s out there”

We reported countless trade rumors over the past few days, that involved Alex Galchenyuk and Andrew Shaw, as well as Chris Kreider and the New York Rangers. All this speculation surrounding the Canadiens isn't just a coincidence, because it looks like Habs' general manager Marc Bergevin is really trying to make a transaction.

Sportnet's Elliotte Friedman revealed this information today on Sportsnet650 radio station, in Vancouver. Here's what he said, according to FanRag Sports' Chris Nichols:

"I think Bergevin has really tried to see what’s out there,” noted Friedman during his radio hit on Vancouver’s Sportsnet 650. “I just think he doesn’t like it. I think he’s looked around, he’s seen what’s out there, and he’s sitting there and he’s saying, ‘There is nothing here that makes sense for our team right now.’ So I think they’re out… and of course I always worry I’m going to hang up and we’ll have a trade right away. But as Bergevin said last week, the situation has to be solved in here."

Friedman also mentioned we should keep an eye on Peter Chiarelli and the Edmonton Oilers, as they aren't performing as well as they should have since the start of the 2017-18 season.

Do you think Bergevin will end up making a move?
