The hit that started the fire… and then it went up in flames fast.

As the game between the Detroit Red Wings and New Jersey Devils was coming to an end, Tyler Bertuzzi thought it’d be a good idea to run Jack Hughes over moments after he released the puck with an awkward hit.

From there, it escalated quickly. Forward John Hayden immediately rushed to Bertuzzi and cross-checked him in the neck, sending the Wings forward flying on the ice.

P.K. Subban wanted to make sure everything was in control, but quickly got into it with Bertuzzi. However, you have to know that Subban would have an usual approach to a fight.

After both he and Bertuzzi were separated by the officials, Subban decided to get back at him by… throwing his glove at his rival. That’s right, he didn’t dropped the gloves, he simply threw one.

Bertuzzi did not appreciate and threw his back at Subban as they were getting ejected from the game by the referees. It turned out to be a weird glove fight, which you have to admit is worse than a cat fight.

Check it out:

On Wednesday, Hayden was fined $2,016.13, the maximum allowable under the CBA, for Cross-checking Bertuzzi.
